Police deputy?s son arrested after crash

A man who crashed into a wall near the US Consulate building was the son of the Deputy Police Commissioner George Jackson, has learned.

Andrew Jackson, 22, was arrested under suspicion of impaired driving. The accident happened at 6.15 a.m. on Saturday near the US Consulate building on Middle Road, Devonshire.

Police said it appeared the driver had lost control of his car when he was driving east along Middle Road and collided with the near-side wall.

Officers arrested the driver after observing the scene of the collision. The man?s identity was revealed to by a reliable source.

Bermuda Police Service does not identify by name any individuals who have not appeared before the court. Persons who have been arrested will go through the same procedures and processes as any member of our community, a Police spokesman said.
