In opening remarks at the House of Assembly yesterday, acknowledged the presence of Bishop Richard F. Norris, who is currently visiting the Island to participate in the 119th General Conference of A.M.E. Churches held last weekend.

Deputy Speaker offered congratulations to Jamaican Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, who was voted Man of the Year after becoming the longest-serving prime minister in Jamaican history with four successful terms in office.

She praised Bermudian golfer Frankie Rabain for his induction into the Professional Golf Association; Ms Smith as well as several other MPs claimed the benefit of Mr. Rabain?s instruction.

Ms Smith also offered condolences to the husband of the late African-American stateswoman Shirley Chisholm, who was a candidate for the Democratic Presidential Nomination.
