A man accused of organising a live Father's Day sex show faced fresh accusations yesterday that he brought women to Bermuda to act as prostitutes.

Magistrates' Court heard how Kenneth Jermaine Burgess, 29, had already pleaded not guilty to knowingly, and without lawful justification or excuse, exhibited an indecent performance at The Club House sports bar in Queen Street, Hamilton, last year.

But yesterday, when he thought his trial was to get underway, Prosecutor Oonagh Vaucrosson added an extra charge, that of procuring women to become common prostitutes in Bermuda.

Burgess, of Olive Lane, Sandys, also pleaded not guilty to that offence.

And owner of the bar, Frederick William Thomas, 63, of Broken Hill Road, Smith's, was also accused of knowingly exhibiting the performance on June 17 last year. He, too, has pleaded not guilty.

The charge of procuring women to act as prostitutes is an indictable offence, that brings a maximum 12-month sentence.

However, Burgess opted for the trial to be heard in Magistrates' Court.

The trial was adjourned until June 10.

Lawyer Patrick Doherty acted for Burgess, while Thomas represented himself. Magistrate Will Francis presided.
