Regiment recruits get ready to rumble
For the 40th time in Bermuda?s history 200 Bermudian recruits will run into Warwick Camp at 8 a.m. tomorrow to become better men.
The Bermuda Regiment will be holding its annual recruit camp for the next two weeks.
A Regiment spokesman said: ?Approximately 200 new recruits are expected to pass through the gates tomorrow for two weeks of training in the areas of physical fitness, drill (marching) and weapon handling skills.
?The theme of this year?s recruit camp is ?A Better Man, A Better Bermuda?.?
Recruit Camp 2005 will be led by Major Marc Telemaque (Officer Commanding) and Captain Wayne Caines (Second in Command) along with Lt. David Madeiros (7 Platoon) Lt. Kevin DeSilva (8 Platoon), Lt. Noel Pearman (9 Platoon) and Officer Cadet Clifford Powell (10 Platoon).
?In 1965, the Bermuda Rifles (formerly the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps) and the Bermuda Militia Artillery were combined into one military organisation, thus forming the Bermuda Regiment,? the spokesman said.
