Restaurant fire still being probed

photo by Glenn TuckerFire fighters were on hand Tuesday morning to inspect a fire that happened at the Ristorante Primavera and Suhi Bar.

The investigation into a fire the broke out early Monday evening at the Primavera restaurant continues.

Lt. Dana Lovell said the Bermuda Fire Service has not rule out any suspicious circumstances and are reviewing all possibilities to discover how the fire started.

The fire was described the fire as "not very big" but said a lot of plastic in the restaurant melted, which cause a much black smoke to billow out of the premises.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they discovered the premises locked with a fire in the kitchen. The restaurant had been closed for the holiday.

Fire fighters had to break into the building in order to get to the fire. There was no one in the restaurant when they arrived.

When asked how long the investigation is expected to take he could not give a timeline.

In some cases when there is a fire and the owner knows how it started the investigation is quick," he said. "If there is a fire with no witnesses it will take longer.

"We have to do a forensic investigation and involve other agencies like the Police Forensic Support Unit. It can take a week to a month and sometimes more, it depends on the extent of the fire."
