Significant progress is being made on the delayed Berkeley construction project, with a labour force of ?more than 120? currently on site, Government has claimed.

In a Press statement released yesterday, Works Minister Ashfield DeVent said he was ?very pleased? with the new pace of work ? while he detailed a whole host of jobs which have been, or are on the way to being, completed.

?Since taking over the site, the Ministry has prepared more than 37 work packages and work has started on two thirds of these packages,? he said.

?Others will start shortly and a number of new packages are being put together. When these work packages are awarded we will see more workers on the site.?

Work which has been ?substantially completed? includes the masonry and steel structure of the new gymnasium, electrical and alarm cabling and roof tiling.
