Son of recently deceased Policeman robbed of heirloom

The son of the Police officer who died suddenly earlier this month, was robbed of an irreplaceable gold chain given to him by his late father.

Under the special circumstances, Police are appealing to the culprits to return the chain to the closest Police Station immediately.

Chad Herbert, the 17-year-old son of late Pc Timothy Herbert who died suddenly on January 7, was robbed of the chain on Friday. He and a friend were ?approached by a group of young men from Berkeley Institute at the bus stop on Marsh Folly Road. The group proceeded to take two necklaces from the victim, before making good their escape on foot,? Police said.

?...However, a few hours later a 15-year-old male from Paget was arrested in connection with this incident after he attended the Hamilton Police Station with his mother.?

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Pc Carol Smith on 295-0011.

A funeral service for the late Pc Herbert was held at the Anglican Cathedral on Saturday.

?One of the necklaces taken is of great sentimental value and is irreplaceable as it was given to Chad by his late father,? Police said.
