Guests have been moved out of Sonesta Beach Hotel while a new $1.5 million sewage treatment plant is installed.

Manager Director Dennis Tucker said no more than ten rooms would be affected during the temporary shutdown starting last night and lasting until Saturday.

He said: "They will be relocated to other hotels. They were made aware a number of weeks ago." The new equipment would be an improvement on the current facility in which waste water is pumped 1,000 yards out to sea, said Mr. Tucker.

Instead the waste water will be re-cycled in the hotel's flushing system while the solid waste will be dealt with by Government. He said: "I am pleased it's about ready to come on-line. We will commission it over the next two weeks."Mr. Tucker said the new equipment had been bought after new environmental regulations were brought in.
