Tower gets green light

Telecom Bermuda was granted final Planning approval to erect a 175-foot communications tower in Devonshire.

The application, received on September 14, for a 175-foot monopole tower on an existing transmitter site and new concrete foundation at No. 35 CedarBridge Lane and No. 40 Schools Drive, was approved by the Development Applications Board (DAB) this week.

The DAB said the Department of Telecommunications had to approve all transmitting devices in the new tower.

"All radio frequency emissions from the site shall be in compliance with the guidelines adopted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)," it said.

It also said space on the tower should be shared among competitors wherever practical.
