Educational consultant and author Mychal Wynn will be in Bermuda as guest speaker for the Middle Schools Conference.

The American is widely known in the US for his work in training parents, teachers and administrators on the major components of school improvement.

He has defined these as: vision, school climate and culture, curriculum, and instruction.

Since volunteering to work with at risk students in South Central Los Angeles Middle Schools in 1982, Mr. Wynn has devoted his work to conceptualising, modelling, demonstrating and implementing innovative school strategies to help schools become places of passion and purpose, helping children to discover their dreams and aspirations.

He has authored 11 books and more than 40 publications.

The Middle School Conference will take place at Sonesta at 8.30 a.m. tomorrow and will feature the Middle School Orchestra for the first time.

Derek Tully, president of the Bermuda Middle Schools Association, said this year's conference is a real "family affair" and as in past years will see all participants sharing information.

"It gives us a chance to say `how are you, any new ideas you want to share? Tell me things you want to share to help improve my own subject'" he said.

The Bermuda Middle School Association has also invited all the Island's primary six students and parents to meet and learn more about middle school tomorrow night at the Sonesta Beach Hotel. That meeting will take place at 7 p.m.
