Fire last night caused $200,000 damage to a house in Southampton. Two rooms were gutted. Fire-fighters were called to the single-storey house in Pompano Lane shortly after 9.30 p.m. and an hour later were wetting down the blaze.

Bermuda Fire Service spokesman Lt. Dana Lovell said it was too early to determine the cause of the fire.

Two fire engines from Port Royal Station arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving a call at 9.37 p.m. and nine officers, including four wearing breathing apparatus, deal with the incident.

The were no reports of any injuries to the occupants.
