All residents are being urged on Tuesday, the three month anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, to pause for a moment to remember those who died.

US President George W. Bush is encouraging nations around the world to pay their respects at 9.46 a.m. Bermuda time on Tuesday, the exact time the first plane hit the World Trade Center in New York three months ago.

Acting Premier Eugene Cox said that after consulting with the US Consulate General and Acting Governor Tim Gurney, he is encouraging everyone on the Island to join in the remembrances by observing a moment of silence.

He hopes local radio stations will play the American and Bermuda national anthems as a show of solidarity.

"The entire world, including Bermuda, was affected by the terrible tragedy of September 11. Remembrances such as these help to ensure that we do not forget," said Mr. Cox.

"I would encourage everyone in Bermuda to join with our American neighbours in remembering all of the lives lost in those horrible terrorist acts.

"By showing our solidarity, we affirm our value as human beings and allow the light of freedom and opportunity to burn brighter across the world."
