After a month in Edinburgh, Aaron Daniels' is off to Cuba for a year thanks to a scholarship from the Ross `Blackie' Talbot Foundation.

The 14-year-old from Pembroke is heading to Havana's National School of Music to further his study of the piano, drums and the saxophone, his main instrument.

The foundation has sponsored him to the tune of $2,500 to help fund the trip which the youngster is really looking forward to.

"I went to the school in April and it looks real good," said Aaron, a member of the Bermuda National Youth Jazz Ensemble, who has already performed in England, the US and all over the Island.

"It will be a great chance for me to develop my music and should be a good experience."

The foundation assists young Bermudians with music study abroad, with the purchase of new instruments and is also looking to help fund music productions on the Island. Aaron has just spent a month in Scotland with the Bermudian contingent in town for the Military Tattoo and had a great time.

"It was long and tiring but it was a great trip," he said.

"We had a wonderful time, we did some great stuff there and it was a really good experience - I didn't want to come home."
