A motorcyclist who crashed head on into a six-seater taxi on Thursday night was in serious but stable condition last night in the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Kevin Mooney, 24, sustained head injuries when he hit the taxi after he apparently lost control of his cycle and swerved onto the wrong side of South Shore Road, Paget, near Elbow Beach.
He was taken unconscious to hospital after smashing into the windscreen of the taxi, owned by Saint Omer Valasse, a 64-year-old long-term resident from St. Lucia who was uninjured in the accident.
After the crash, Mr. Valasse said: “He came from the other side of the road onto my side at high speed and I guess he was trying to rectify the corner.”
