Colleagues of Bermuda's latest road traffic fatality observed a moment of silence yesterday morning at the plant where he would have clocked in.

Bermuda Telephone Company workers at the St. John's Road facility also offered prayers in memory of fibre-optic cable technician Laurie Joseph, who died early yesterday morning after crashing on his motorcycle on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton Parish.

Police yesterday were seeking witnesses to the single vehicle accident which they said took place shortly after midnight .

Mr. Joseph, 29, of Smith's Parish, was the Island's fourth road fatality.

While his family were too grief-stricken to speak with the media yesterday, BTC president Francis Mussenden: "This is such a tragic loss to everyone."

He said Mr. Joseph's co-workers were distraught at the news and that he personally was very saddened.

"Mr. Joseph joined us almost three years ago and quickly became an integral part of the BTC family," he said. "He worked in our UMC/ADSL project as a fibre optic technician and demonstrated his dependability, loyalty and honesty at all times. He was a hard worker and a companion to many and he will be sorely missed."
