A 23-year-old came to the end of his legal line yesterday when he was sent to Supreme Court for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to two breaking and entering charges.

And in Magistrates' Court yesterday Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves warned other `would-be' Drug Treatment Court failures, that if they got kicked out and came back to court for similar offences they would find that the penalties were severe.

Admitted drug addict Saj? Nearon, of no fixed abode, had a history of convictions for theft and last year was jailed after breaking conditions set down by the Alternatives to Incarceration programme.

Providing the court with details of Nearon's latest offences Crown counsel Charmaine Smith told the court that on January 6, the owner of a paint shop discovered that his business had been burgled and that paint worth $2,139 had been stolen.

And on January 11, the Tennis Stadium in Pembroke was broken in to. The defendant was later arrested and confessed to the two thefts, telling officers that the stolen items had been sold to feed his drug addiction.

Mrs. Smith added that Nearon had been released from prison on September 28 of last year for offences of dishonesty and stealing and that he had numerous other previous convictions of a similar nature.

Nearon said: "I just apologise to the people and the store and whoever else was affected."

Mr. Greaves said: "You have numerous convictions for theft related offences and just last year you used up all that the ATI had available to you. During Drug Treatment Court you resisted or refused to comply to such an extent that you were terminated eventually and sentenced.

"The court has again considered all ATI's and conclude that none are available to be of assistance to you at this time. The court considers that a custodial sentence is the only thing applicable to you."

Mr. Greaves ordered that Nearon be sentenced in Supreme Court - which has the authority to dispense tougher sentences.o the could get a longer sentence and also where he could receive drug addiction treatment
