Advert draws complaints

An advertisement in this week?s for the Maranatha Ministry sparked a number of complaints from members of the public.

The advert depicts two photographs, the first of a Tsunami striking a major city and the second depicting people fleeing in panic from what appears to be an enormous wave.

President of the Ministry, Martin Tickle yesterday admitted the first photo was a Hollywood interpretation of a Tsunami, while the second was genuine and had been taken off the Internet.

Mr. Tickle said the photographs were used for impact and were intended to make people query if this could ever happen to Bermuda, and if so, whether or not they were ?spiritually ready?.

?It was not my intention to mislead the public. The complete object was to draw attention to the individual?s own consciousness,? he said.

Mr. Tickle said the Maranatha Ministry ad was simply offering the public the opportunity to respond and receive free books on the subject covering this religious question.
