American Airlines has come to the rescue of stricken staff who have been struggling without power in the wake of Fabian.

The company flew in ten generators, batteries, lights, food, brooms, mops, coolers, lamps and canned food for American's 28 Bermuda employees.

Twelve are still without electricity but the generators and as soon as staff receive power they will hand over the generators to those in need.

American Airlines regional manager for Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America, Humberto Rivero, also flew in boost the morale of the Bermuda staff.

The airline's Bermuda general manager Judith Butterfield said: "It was quite wonderful and at no expense to the staff.

"The staff are ecstatic, really happy about it. A lot of time staff complain and complain, but they can really see how much American Airlines cares for them."

Due to leaks in the roof at the Airport, American staff have no computers and are having to use a separate printer for passes and luggage tags.

"It's a little but slower but the passengers are very happy with the way we have handled it and my staff have pulled together like the A Team that they are," added Mr. Butterfield.
