?All of a sudden I heard three loud shots?

An eyewitness to Thursday?s shooting has described the confusion that erupted when a man was targeted by drive-by gunmen.

?I just got to the bar and all of a sudden I heard three loud shots: pap, pap, pap,? the witness told . ?The young guy looked like he was shot in the left arm and he was bleeding.

?They took him away in a private car then the ambulance and Police turned up. Everyone was running all over the place. They were scared. ?There were a few people in the bar and a few people outside at the time; a mix of tourists and locals.?

He said the victim went into the restaurant and did not say anything before being taken outside.

The witness said he had only just arrived when the shooting took place at a junction outside the South Shore pub and restaurant. It all lasted a few minutes, he added.

He said speculation was rife the culprits missed the person they were trying to shoot, when they targeted a group of people stood on the junction of Dunscombe Road and South Road. ?It looks like they hit the wrong person.?

One shocked neighbour, who was woken by the unmistakable sound of gunfire, said: ?It?s just too close, it?s the neighbourhood! I couldn?t get back to sleep for a long time.

?I have never heard gun shots before, except on TV. But my husband, who was in the Regiment knew what a gun sounded like.?

Curious, she headed down towards the pub and was told a masked man, sitting on the back of a bike had fired the shots before heading away. ?It sounded like a big bike, you could hear the gear changes.?

She said she was surprised to see patrons of the pub still calmly enjoying their food despite what had just happened.

?They were just sitting there eating, some were putting up their hands to order from the waiter.?
