Alleged sex offender in court

A 60-year-old Devonshire man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday on charges of having sex with an underage male.

The man - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - did not have to enter a plea because the charges are indictable offence.

The man will plead in Supreme Court.

He is charged with allowing a boy under the age of 18 to have "unlawful carnal knowledge against the order of nature" of him on three occasions between March and October of this year.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves set bail for the Devonshire man at $5,000 and he is to appear in plea court again in two weeks in order for papers to be served.
