US visitor busted at airport

An American visitor who hid several cocaine and marijuana cigarettes in his shorts pocket apologised for the offence in Magistrates? Court yesterday, telling the court it was the ?stupidest thing I have ever done?.

The court heard that Timothy Roman, 41, of Massachusetts brought in 2.15 grams of cannabis and 0.23 grams of cocaine to the Island in three, home-made cigarettes on September 9. Roman had arrived at the airport on a flight from the the United States.

Customs officers were alerted by a drug dog as Roman went to collect his luggage.

Crown Counsel Anthony Blackman said Roman was nervous and shaking uncontrollably when he was questioned by officers.

During questioning, Roman said he had both ?marijuana and crack?. Roman pleaded guilty to the offence and paid a total of $2,500 in fines.

Man faces assault trial

Fort Knox chief executive officer Troy Symonds will be tried on December 7 on charges of assaulting a woman.

Symonds, the founder of the Internet service provider and computer security firm, had previously denied assaulting Kathlyn Marion Dyer on May 8, this year.

Symonds, of Radnor Road, Hamilton Parish, was represented by lawyer Delroy Duncan.

Senior Magistrate Archie Warner set a trial date for December 7 in Magistrates? Court.

Trial for man accused of double assault

A man charged with assaulting two women will have his case go to trial in Magistrates? Court in December.

Eldon Daniels, 38, of Grace Lane, Pembroke, was charged with assaulting Shirlena Lakeisha Daniels on February 24, 2004 in Pembroke. Daniels was also charged with assaulting Curlena Takeisha Smith on the same day in Pembroke.

Daniels denied the charges against him yesterday in Magistrates? Court and Senior Magistrate Archie Warner set his trial for December 6, 2004. He was released on $1,000 bail.
