The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo will be hosting an open day and slew of fun activities this weekend to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of Flatts.

From 9 a.m. tomorrow visitors can pick up clues for the Heritage Trail two-day scavenger hunt at the Aquarium, the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, the Bermuda National Trust, Bermuda National Gallery, Fort St. Catherine and the Maritime Museum.

The participant who correctly completes the hunt in the shortest time will win a gift basket from Heritage Gift Shops.

Sheets must be returned by 4 p.m. Entry fee is $15 per adult and $5 per child - it provides admission to all of the attractions for the weekend, plus a visit to the attraction of your choice at a later date.

Participants will also receive a ten percent discount coupon from Rustico restaurant in Flatts.

From 10 a.m. to noon, Mix 106's Peter Lewis will broadcast live from the Aquarium.

Students who come to the broadcast will get a free admission pass from the Bermuda Zoological Society.

Candy and prizes will be given away during the show.

On Sunday the Aquarium is open free from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Activities include:

A kids' costume contest with prizes for the best animal and environmental costumes;

A performance from the Harrington Sound and Francis Pattern schools' choir between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m;

A 75th anniversary birthday cake competition, at 3 p.m., open to all - a prize will be awarded for the best looking and tastiest cake; and

The Bermuda Zoological Society will hold their annual draw at 4 p.m. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the Aquarium throughout the weekend. The main prize, a Honda BIZ 100cc bike donated by the HWP group, will be on display.

Aquarium curator Jack Ward said: "We hope that many people will come to the Aquarium on Saturday and Sunday if they haven't been for a while, to see how we've changed and grown in recent years."

He said the Aquarium wanted to inspire appreciation and care of Island environments.
