A bank teller who stole $1,904.35 was fined $1,000 and ordered to repay the Bank of Bermuda on by Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves.

Okuffo Clarke, who was a teller at the bank, pleaded guilty to stealing money from a client.

The client brought in a cheque worth $2,884 and asked him to pay a bill, the court was told. When the client forgot to take the rest of the funds, Clarke, 24, of Shelton Road, Pembroke, pocketed the money, the court heard.

When Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves asked him what did he had to say for himself, Clarke replied: "It was a dishonest mistake on my part."

Mr. Greaves responded: "Did you ever hear the story of the dog and his bone? He caught the shadow and lost his bone."
