Bank of Butterfield has flatly denied a claim by businesswoman Teresa Cameron that a writ it issued against her was a "mistake".

The bank took out the writ against Mrs. Cameron, who founded collapsed Internet directory talkingmice.com, on October 17.

Mrs. Cameron, who has just launched information website mBermuda, told The Royal Gazette last week the bank made "a big mistake" and that it had apologised to her.

She said she had no idea what the writ was about, adding that she would be seeing the bank on Monday.

"They (the bank) said it was nothing to do with me and apologised," Mrs. Cameron said last week. But a Bank of Butterfield spokeswoman said on Monday evening: "It was not a mistake, but we cannot comment any further because we cannot comment on matters before the courts."

Mrs. Cameron did not a return a call from The Royal Gazette yesterday seeking comment.
