The Bermuda International Air Show has been postponed until June next year.

“The postponement of the Bermuda International Air Show by 12 months will allow the organisers the opportunity to attract flying and static aircraft displays and to market the event among air enthusiasts throughout the world; thus guaranteeing a highly entertaining and successful event,” event organiser the Airborne Foundation said in a statement.

The reasons cited for the postponement included time constraints, logistical support, safety requirements and secured financial resources.

The Air Show was set to feature the US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron and the Blue Angels. Harrier planes and other fighter jets, the US Army's Golden Knights stunt parachute team and Stealth fighters were also set to arrive the weekend of June 12 and 13.

Last week a spokesman for the Blue Angels said the team was disappointed it would not be travelling to Bermuda this year but hoped the organisers would apply for next year.
