Hospital seeking Chief of Staff

Bermuda Hospitals Board has begun the search for a new Chief-of-Staff to replace Dr. June Hill in June.

Dr. Hill has a three-year contract which expires on June 1.

Bermuda Hospitals Board chief executive officer Joan Dillas-Wright said: ?We would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Hill for the service she has given the hospitals.

?We thank her for her involvement in building a team of professionals that is intent on giving the Bermuda community the best standards of care. We wish her well for the future.?

Thieves locked in Henry?s Pantry

Brazen thieves who stole a bottle of liquor from Henry?s Pantry in Southampton were caught when they came back in for more.

The two thieves walked out of the store at 11 a.m. on Saturday without paying for a bottle of Hypnotiq.

But when they returned a few minutes later, the store owner locked them in and called Police.

Officers studied video footage and arrested the men. The bottle of liquor was found in one of the suspect?s bikes.

Child wakes to find intruder in his bedroom

An eight-year-old boy had a terrifying ordeal when an intruder broke into his bedroom and held a hand over his face to stop him screaming.

The boy awoke at his home in Windy Bank, Smiths, in the early hours of Saturday to find a ?brown man? in his room.

The man put his hand over the boy?s face to silence him then escaped the house.

The boy went into his parents? room and told them a ?bad man is here?.

Police say the intruder was brown skinned and wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and belt, and had long plaits or locks.

Thief found hiding in couple?s shower

A couple returning home on Saturday night were met with a nasty shock ? a thief hiding in their shower.

The man then calmly walked past them saying ?I didn?t know anyone was home?.

The break-in took place at the home in Harbour Road, Warwick, at 11.45 p.m. on Saturday.

The thief, who stole a wallet and other items, is black, thin, 5?11??, wearing a blue baseball cap with white writing on it, a white short-sleeved t-shirt, and dark blue pants with white stripes on them.

Kayak Bermuda to build a new dock

Kayak Bermuda is in the final stages of its Planning application to repair docks damaged by Hurricane Fabian.

Proprietor Stephen McKey said the docks were completely washed away during the storm and the building not only lost its roof, but also its walls.

Mr. McKey said: ?We are on the home stretch for rebuilding the shop and we have just three weeks before the cruise ships arrive to finish.

?We need a little creativity to finish, but we are working really well in this crisis situation.?

He said the dock that they used for kayaking measured 15-feet by 70- feet.

?It was a cement dock, it is going to be structurally similar to the previous dock, but this time it will have a PVC facing on it,? said Mr. McKey.

He added that once they receive Planning permission, the new dock is expected to take about three weeks to complete.

Burglar nabs $800 from Pembroke home

A burglar stole $800 after breaking into a Fenton?s Drive, Pembroke home on Wednesday afternoon.
