No word on inquest into death of senior in hospital care

A 16-year-old teen who suffered burns to over 90 percent of his body in a road traffic accident two weeks ago remains in critical condition at a Boston hospital.

Police spokesman Robin Simmons said the unnamed St. George?s youth continues to recover in hospital.

The teen lost control of his motorcycle on July 25 when he was negotiating a corner at the junction of Spanish Point Road and Clarence Dale Road. As a result the cycle struck a palm tree and caught fire.

A 15-year-old passenger on the bike was thrown from the cycle but he was not injured.

Jet ski spirited away

Police were showered with a hail of bottles upon attending a domestic disturbance on Friday morning.

At about 1.45 on Friday morning Police attended a reported domestic disturbance at St. Augustine?s Lane, in Pembroke.

On arrival at the scene, they were met with several bottles, including a bottle containing a liquid believed to be gasoline.

A Police car received minor damage but no one was injured.

The bottle containing the mystery liquid was seized for analysis. No arrests were mad.

Sandys motorcyclist hospitalised

Police are continuing to arrest drivers for seatbelt violations, fining up to 15 motorists a day who have failed to buckle up.

Robin Simmons, spokesperson for the Bermuda Police Service, said the majority of drivers are wearing their seatbelts but additional reminders are necessary.

?The vast majority seem to adhere to the law and are wearing their seatbelts, but we would like to remind the public that it is the law to wear their seatbelts,? he said.

The last batch of seatbelt arrests were made last month during cabbies anti-GPS protests, when the Police handed out more than 50 tickets to motorists who had failed to buckle up. The seat belt law went into effect in January 1, with motorists warned about possible fines which can reach up to $200.

Safe driving and better driving standards are a hot topic lately with a number of serious traffic accidents in the last several weeks.
