The National Drug Commission is gearing up to open a Women's Treatment Centre in Somerset.Kevin Monkman, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Family Services, said the facility is awaiting change of use approval. The former residential facility is located on Cambridge Road.

The National Drug Commission is gearing up to open a Women's Treatment Centre in Somerset.

Kevin Monkman, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Family Services, said the facility is awaiting change of use approval. The former residential facility is located on Cambridge Road.

"It's not operational yet, this is a Planning hurdle that we're waiting to overcome," he said. Mr. Monkman said a formal statement outlining Government's treatment plans for the future of the facility will be issued shortly.

Rental bike stolen

Visitors were the victims of theft over the weekend.

They told Police someone broke into their room in a St. George's guest house between Saturday and early Sunday morning and stole a black Pantax camera, $200 in cash and a rental cycle with helmet and keys.

Discman stolen

A red and grey Aiwa Discman and $60 was stolen from a South Road, Warwick home on Sunday.

The complainant said that between 4.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. someone broke into the home and removed the items.

Drunk drivers tested

Over the weekend five people were arrested for drunk driving.

There were 12 incidents of breaking and entering ? three in Pembroke, one in Devonshire, three in Sandys, two in St. George's, two in Southampton and one in Warwick.

There were also 22 damage only traffic accidents and three accidents resulting in injury over the weekend.

Boat warning

Marine Police would like to remind boat owners to check their boats and make sure their moorings are secure and that all the equipment in the boat is in working order.

Bikes raided

Police said that between 2 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, two male visitors had $600 in cash and other personal items stolen from the storage compartments of their rental cycles.

The bikes were parked at Chaplin Bay Beach in Warwick.

Inquiries into this incident is underway.

Piggy banks stolen

Two piggy banks were taken from a Watlington Road East, Devonshire home sometime between 8.15 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, Police said.

The resident told Police that a quantity of jewellery and the two piggy banks, containing an unknown amount of coins, had been stolen during the break-in.

Police said inquiries into this event are underway.
