In a bid to improve after-sales service HWP Group has purchased Terceira's Automotive Service.

HWP Group vice president of after-sales operation Tjeck Neijmeijer said the purchase was part of the company's commitment to continue enhancing its automotive service to customers.

Mr. Neijmeijer stressed that the purchase involved only the service facility and Terceira's, which will continue to operate the petrol station and forecourt.

The purchase includes Terceira's Towing Service which means HWP Group will now be able to offer the added benefit of a 24-hour towing services.

"Terceira's was considered to be a perfect fit as it is conveniently located, offers sufficient space for the expansion of our after services and is close enough to our other locations," said Mr. Neijmeijer.

Ralph Terceira, former owner of Terceira's, said he was pleased to have been a fixture in the Island's automotive industry for the past 40 years. But, he wants to pursue other interests.

"We have worked with HWP Group on a regular basis and it is fitting that their after sales division should be purchasing and moving in to our facility," said Mr. Terceira.

"We wish them every continued success in the future."

Police are appealing for the owner of a silver Mitsubishi Lancer station wagon that was parked on Burnaby Hill on Tuesday night to come forward.

A Police spokesman said it is believed that the car might have been broken into and items stolen from it.

The car was parked outside the Jackson School of Dance, in Hamilton, between 11.30 p.m. and midnight, on Tuesday. The owner of the car is asked to contact Central CID on 295-0011.

The Bermuda Biological Station for Research and the Atlantis Mobile Laboratory Programme are having an open day tomorrow.

The Atlantis Mobile Laboratory of Laval University, of University in Quebec City, Quebec, arrived at BBSR on October 12 for two months of local research into human and environmental health.

The Atlantis project made Bermuda its first port of call in its global scientific studies. It was able to come to the Island through sponsorship from the XL Foundation.

The open day will run from from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the public are welcome to learn about the project.

A burglar took $780 cash and a wallet from an Ord Road, Paget home early Saturday morning. Police are also investigating a burglary at a Cobb's Hill, Warwick home in the early hours of yesterday morning in which a black handbag was stolen.

Santa is getting a helping hand delivering presents this year.

The Bermuda Fire Service is offering a Santa drop off service to organisations ? namely charitable or service clubs ? and possibly private homes , according to Deputy Chief John Pacheco.

"So, far we have had 22 requests," Mr. Pacheco said.

Santa will be delivered by a two seat fire truck to a requested destination.

The service started in November and will end on December 19.

If anyone is interested they must send a written request to the Chief Officer by December 19.

Motorists are asked to avoid the section of road from the bottom of Collectors Hill to Hermitage Road on Tuesday, December 9, said the Bermuda Electric Light Company (Belco).

Belco's crews will be working in that area as part of the company's ongoing Hurricane Fabian system rehabilitation programme.

The work will be carried out between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The public's cooperation is appreciated as Belco works to fully restore the overhead system across the Island.
