The driver of a garbage truck got more than he bargained for yesterday when he attempted a U-turn at the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill.The truck collapsed on its left side in the middle of the manoeuvre temporarily trapping the driver. The St. George's man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and was treated for minor injuries before being released.

Driver trapped inside garbage truck

The driver of a garbage truck got more than he bargained for yesterday when he attempted a U-turn at the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill.

The truck collapsed on its left side in the middle of the manoeuvre temporarily trapping the driver. The St. George's man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and was treated for minor injuries before being released.

Motorcycle, car collide in Warwick crash

A 19-year-old Pembroke man was taken to hospital after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at the junction of Harbour Road and Cobbs Hill Road in Warwick on 12.35 a.m. on Saturday. The man was treated for a broken hip and facial lacerations.

The car was travelling west on Harbour Road when the Pembroke man, driving in the opposite direction, apparently lost control of the motorcycle.

The driver of the car, a 49-year-old Warwick man, was not injured but was arrested for suspicion of impaired driving. He was taken to the Hamilton Police Station where was detained after failing the alco-anaylser test.

Flat screen TV taken from Paget home

A brand-new portable Sony flat screen TV which was still in its box was taken from a White Sands Road, Paget, residence early on Sunday. A small amount of cash was also stolen.

Devonshire burglar grabs cash, DVDs

An unknown amount of cash, a duffel bag and several DVDs were taken from a Watlington Lane, Devonshire residence on Thursday afternoon. The victim said that sometime between 8.20 a.m. and noon on Thursday a burglar gained entry into the home and escaped with the items.

Anchors away: Boat equipment stolen

Thieves stole boat equipment from a sailboat moored in Stocks Harbour in St. George's on Thursday. Some time between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and 2.30 a.m. on Thursday a unknown intruder stole a 35-pound anchor, a 75-pound anchor and 200 feet of rope from the victim's sail boat.

Whitney Avenue home broken into

A Pembroke home was the target thieves on Wednesday, with $150 in cash being stolen.

The victim said some time between 8.15 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. a burglar gained entry into her Whitney Avenue home, making good their escape.

Electronic equipment missing after TribeRoad theft

A CD player, DVD players and other electronic accessories were stolen from a Tribe Road, Paget residence last month.

The victim said some time between Monday, August 8 and Sunday, August 28, a thief gained entry into the home and stole a Sanyo 5 CD player, a Sanyo amplifier and Panasonic and Sanyo DVD players.
