Thieves make off with cash

Thieves got away with $300 from a house on Harbour Road on Monday evening.

A Police spokesman said the complainants left for work at 7 a.m. and returned at 7 p.m.

On returning they noticed that the money was missing from a side table.

Shopping duo aim for the right price

Two women shoppers replaced price tags on several items of groceries in a Hamilton supermarket on Monday night.

The manager of The Shopping Centre became suspicious after the women had their items tallied but did not have sufficient funds to pay for them.

They then had the cashier total the items again before deciding to leave them in the store.

A Police spokesman said it was then that the manager noticed that they had more items in the bags then the total price allowed. On checking the surveillance equipment, she noticed that the women had switched the price tags. Police said inquires are continuing.

Visitor loses her finger

A visitor who was entering a liquor store had her finger cut completely off in its door on Tuesday afternoon, Police reported yesterday.

The incident happened at Burrows and Lightbourne Liquors in St. George's. The cruise ship passenger had come in through the door and it shut on her fingers. Police said, as a result, her right ring finger came completely off. A doctor was on the scene and secured the finger in ice.

She was taken to hospital where she was treated and released.
