The Employee Assistance Programme of Bermuda will hold its annual general meeting at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel on Monday, October 9, from 12 noon until 2.30 p.m.

Dr. Linda Duxbury, a Professor at the Sprott School of Business, at Carleton University in Canada, is the scheduled guest speaker.

Dr. Duxbury?s presentation, ?Dealing with the Boiled Frogs: It?s All About Workloads?, will focus on the impact increased workloads have had on an employer?s bottom line and will examine the reason why many of the ?family friendly? practices that companies have implemented do not seem to work.

The Centre on Philanthropy has launched a website to provide information for Bermuda?s charitable and community groups.

The site, at provides an overview of its programmes, outlines its mission and enables greater communication.

Highlights include an events calendar that can be updated by members of the public and a ?knowledge centre? with over 300 articles and frequently asked questions answered for donors, non-profit organisations and volunteers.

A directory also includes profiles on 200 Bermuda-based non-profit organisations.

Staff from the world-renowned Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore, USA, have visited Bermuda to share medical advances with local physicians.

The team featured experts who gave presentations on interventional cardiology and radiology procedures. One member, thoracic surgeon Malcolm Brock, is Bermudian, and hosted a reception to bring the visitors and local medics together.
