A woman has appeared in court accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a Government organisation.
Laura Claudetta DeRosa denied stealing $9,097 when she was a clerk at the West End Development Corporation (Wedco), between July 15 and 18 last year.
She also pleaded denied making a false entry in a Wedco deposit collection registry, between the same two dates.
DeRosa, 52, of Harrington Hundred Road, Smith?s, was given $2,000 bail. Her case was adjourned for trial at Magistrates? Court on August 29.
Gas prices have fallen slightly on the Island, Government announced.
Starting on May 16, the Ministry of Finance put into effect a drop in the price of gas by a maximum of1.8 cents/litre.
Consumers should appreciate the price drop after February saw a 2.8 percent increase in comparison to 2005 prices.
The Ministry also announced that the maximum prices of diesel and kerosene have gone up, 2.0 cents/litre and 1.4 cents/litre, respectively.
As a result, the maximum retailed prices on display at the pumps for petroleum products are gasoline at 169.70 cents/litre, diesel at 146.00 cents/litre and kerosene at 121.90 cents/litre.
Police reported that there were four people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, 19 damage-only road traffic collisions and nine road traffic collisions resulting in injury over last weekend.
The incidents are under investigation.
