Driver swims from Police after crash
A truck driver tried to swim away from Police after he crashed his truck into a wall on Thursday.
The 37-year-old Pembroke man jumped into the water after he saw Police approaching the scene.
“However, he was apprehended after a brief pursuit along the rocky shoreline,” Police said.
Police said the damage-only traffic accident occurred near the junction of North Shore Road and Dock Hill in Devonshire at 6.35 p.m.
“It appears that a grey truck was travelling east on North Shore Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall,” Police said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and detained at Hamilton Police Station.
Car careers over Palmetto Road embankment
A 20-year-old suffered head injuries after crashing his car into a wall and going over an embankment on Palmetto Road on Tuesday morning. Police said the accident occurred at 7.10 a.m. when the driver of a blue Opel Corsa travelling west on Palmetto Road collided with a wall and lost control. The car was badly damaged.
Toilet bowls stolen from construction site
Three Seychelle toilet bowls waiting to be installed in a Paget apartment were stolen on Monday evening. The thief made a quick get-away in a white car.
Police went to the construction site on South Road and spoke with the complainant who told them a man stole the toilet bowls from the apartment premises which is under construction.
The suspect is a brown skinned male with a short hair cut. He was wearing a white T-shirt and is believed to be in his 40s.
*Fifty dollars was stolen from a Railway Trail, Warwick home on Tuesday night, Police said.
The break-in occurred between 7.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Inquiries are under way.
Thief steals electronic items from classroom
A thief hunting pricey electronic items broke into a classroom at the Southampton Pre-School over the weekend and made off with a Toshiba 20” TV, DVD player and several DVDs. The theft occurred between 5.30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Monday.
Jewellery taken from Hamilton Parish home
Several items of jewellery were stolen from a Sunrise Drive, Hamilton parish home between 12.30 p.m. and 4.20 p.m. on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a thief who broke into a Sandys residence on Monday evening also got away with jewellery. Coins to the value of $3 were taken as well. The complainant told Police the culprit broke into the home earlier that day.
