An airplane flying from Aruba to Newark, New Jersey was diverted to Bermuda after a passenger had a heart attack.

Continental flight 1967 was redirected to Bermuda International Airport at 6.52 p.m. on Monday, Fire Service Lt. Dana Lovell said.

The 70-year-old heart attack victim was given first aid by members of the Clearwater Fire Station.

Later, he was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Continental Airlines spokesman Herbie Siggins said that the man was resting comfortably at KEMH and that the prognosis was good.

He said the flight resumed its service to Newark an hour later.

A 38-year-old Devonshire motorcyclist involved in a collision with a car near Collectors Hill junction on Monday is in stable condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Police said the accident occurred around 5.30 p.m. when a car heading towards Hamilton stopped to let a gold Peugeot car travelling east turn into the Supermarket car park on South Shore Road in Smith's.

Before it had completed its turn, the motorcyclist on a black Suzuki 100 cc overtook the first car and collided with the Peugeot.

Witnesses should ring Police on 295-0011.

Firemen were alerted after a broken pipe flooded Pembroke Rest Home in Parsons Road.

Ceiling tiles, lights and cork boards were damaged in the bathrooms, hallways and day room. Damage was put at $500.

The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Monday. The broken PVC pipe supplied fresh water to the toilet.

Firemen were also called to a flooding at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Monday night.

But when they arrived they found hospital staff had dealt with the puddle on the carpet of the hospital's reception area.

The problem was caused by a burst pipe.

A thief targeted a construction site building on Fairylands Road, Pembroke, between 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. on Monday. His haul included a silver Makita Kango hammer, four pairs of heavy duty gloves, a half mask respirator and eight rolls of duct tape.

In Warwick, residents surprised a thief in their Glenwood Park Crescent home at 12 a.m. on Tuesday. The man escaped with $85.

Believed to be in his mid 20s, the thief was brown skinned, 5ft 8in, and of medium build. He was wearing a long sleeved shirt with a dark skull cap on his head.
