A young man who suffered a broken jaw in an unprovoked attack in Hamilton was due to undergo surgery yesterday evening.

As The Royal Gazette reported yesterday, the 23-year-old from Paget was set upon by a man outside Cafe Cairo on Front Street around 3.30 a.m. on Thursday after he refused his attacker's request for a cigarette.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the attack.

Power cut at Ferry Reach for hours

About 40 homes were without power for several hours after an electricity pole was taken down by workmen.

Belco said a construction crane caused the damage in Ferry Reach, St. George's, at about 2 p.m. yesterday.

Electricity was down for the rest of the afternoon as crews attempted to fix the problem. It was anticipated power would return late yesterday evening.
