Man charged with cocaine possession
A man has appeared in court charged with possession of cocaine.
Randy Thompson, 54, of Scotts Hill Road, Sandys, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to possession of 0.06 grams of the drug on November 15 last year. Nicole Smith, prosecuting, said Police found the cocaine after Thompson was arrested "for an unrelated matter" and taken to Somerset Police Station.
She said: "Police officers found a brown paper twist containing a rock-like substance in the front right pocket of his jeans. The paper twist was analysed and found to be 0.06 grams of cocaine."
Thompson has previous convictions for other drugs offences. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined him $800.
Laptop, flat screen TV stolen
Someone gained entry to a Timber Lane, Pembroke home while it was unoccupied, taking a laptop computer and a 42 in. Panasonic flat screen TV, plus a tape recorder.
The complainant told officers it happened sometime between 12.55 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. on Monday. Inquiries into the incident are underway.
44-year-old accused of fondling girl
A 44-year-old man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday on charges of committing sex acts on a girl under the age of 14.
As the charges can only be heard before the Supreme Court, the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea.
Senior Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney alleged the man kissed the girl on her lips on two occasions between July 1 and August 4. He is also accused of touching parts of her body, while in a position of trust.
Car stolen from Warwick home
A Constance Crescent, Warwick residence was burgled with the thief taking a car, its keys and cash. The complainant told Police that sometime between 11 p.m. on Monday and 6.15 a.m. yesterday, someone gained entry to her home.
The car is a green Chevrolet Spark, license number 42986. Police are appealing for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit at 234-1010 or the Vehicle Crime Unit at 299-4316.
Police make witness appeal over fighting
The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for witnesses for the incident that took place over the weekend at Devonshire Recreation Club.
