Bermuda Winter Olympian Patrick Singleton's chances of having his luge exploits forgotten are not in ‘Jeopardy' - after an appearance in a question on the popular television quiz show.

The athlete, now competing in the skeleton, a headfirst version of luge, appeared in the following question on Jeopardy! on Friday night and watched by around 12 million viewers in the US alone: “Patrick Singleton was the only Winter Olympic athlete at the Salt Lake City Olympics who wore shorts at the Opening Ceremony. Name the country that Patrick represented?”.

The contestant incorrectly answered Luxembourg.

The Island received worldwide coverage when Mr. Singleton entered the Olympic Stadium in 2002 wearing red Bermuda shorts despite the below freezing temperatures - the International Olympic Committee later requested the shorts be given to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, where they still hang.

Mr. Singleton, who recently returned to the Island after a long season of competition that culminated in the World Championships in Konigsee, Germany, has been deluged with calls and e-mails from as far afield as Europe and Asia since his TV appearance.

Now-based in London to aid his training, Mr. Singleton is working towards the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
