Driver collides with wall
A Warwick woman collided with a wall Wednesday night and was taken to the hospital.
The 27-year-old was on Khyber Pass when she apparently lost control of her Toyota Corolla.
As a result of the crash she sustained a broken wrist. Both the car and the wall were extensively damaged. The crash happened at approximately 10:25 p.m.
Burglar seeks out white wine
A thirsty thief made off with a bottle of white wine after he broke into a Pembroke residence.
Police were called to a Palmetto Road residence on Wednesday evening and told that someone had broken in. The thief stole an IBM laptop computer, personal items, a watch and a bottle of wine. The Police report did not state the type of wine nor its vintage.
Police are investigating the incident.
Speeder banned from driving
A motorist was fined $500 and banned from the roads for a year for doing 83 kph. Michael Denbrook, 51, of Berry Lane, St. George?s, admitted committing the offence on February 2 at Magistrates? Court on Monday.
Man admits to stealing cheque
A thief who stole a cheque and tried to cash it for $2,750 will be sentenced next month. Clarence Simmons, 39, of South Terrace, Pembroke, appeared at Magistrates? Court on Monday and admitted taking the cheque, making a false document, producing a document he knew to be false and attempting to obtain the cash on May 10.
Crown counsel Shakira Dill said Simmons tried to cash the cheque at Bermuda Financial Network.
?He does have previous convictions, many of a similar nature,? she said.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report and drug and alcohol assessment before sentencing on August 28. Simmons was remanded in custody.
