Bermudian Glenn Jones has been rated as one of Boston's most eligible bachelors, according to the tabloid 'The Improper Bostonian'.

Mr. Jones, 26, is a field reporter for Boston's Fox 25 morning news show.

He was nominated by a friend after he flipped through the magazine at a bar one evening and noticed an advertisement for the contest.

He said he was "flattered" to be chosen.

Mr. Jones described his career in television journalism as exhilarating and overwhelming.

His day begins at 4 a.m., usually working on a developing story that must be ready by the show's 6 a.m. start.

"It's fast paced but I try not to get too pressured," he said from his home in Cambridge. "It's unrelenting and quite overwhelming at times. Being on live TV is exhilarating, there are many parts of the news stories that I do that I like."

He said he still loves his birthplace but wanted to pursue his dream after studying broadcast journalism at Emerson College in Boston.

After graduation, he spent four years in Fort Myers, Florida where he also worked for a morning news show before heading back to Boston.

But he made a mark for himself in Florida and won several Associated Press awards. The stories he covered in Florida included Governor Jeb Bush's re-election and the vote recount during the last Presidential election.

"I knew I liked the Boston area a lot and this town has a good reputation for newsgathering," he said.

He said there was a difference in covering the news in the US and Bermuda.

"In Bermuda it was certainly more difficult to become detached from the news. A lot of the news here is about holding people in power accountable... here there is always something to cover."

He said he would consider moving back to the Island because it is "a nice place to raise a family."
