Big Brothers and Sisters joins with fraternity

More than 50 boys in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bermuda charity will match up with big brothers after BBBS and the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity formed a partnership this week.

The Alpha Phi Alpha Inc, Epsilon Theta Lambda chapter and BBBS team-up is hoped to create 50 Big Brother mentoring relationships within a year.

BBBS President Lisa Webb said: "Some of these little boys have been waiting for two or three years, and will now finally realise their dream of being matched with a Big Brother."

Craig Marchbanks, Epsilon Theta Lambda president, said Alpha Phi Alpha Inc. general president Harry Johnson Sr. will be flying to Bermuda for the official partnership ceremony.

In addition, the fraternity's donated of $5,000 to the partnership, "demonstrates our national organisation will do whatever it takes to see that this partnership is successful," said Mr. Marchbanks.
