Government tabled two small bills on Friday to support the Police and Criminal Evidence Act tabled last week.

The Criminal Law Bill will abolish all distinctions between felonies and misdemeanours for all purposes of the law.

Attorney General Larry Mussenden said: ?This is important in relation to powers of arrest under the Criminal Code that provide for arrest without warrant of any person found committing a felony. This will be replaced by new provisions for arrestable offences contained in PACE.?

The Interpretation Amendment Act 2005 provides for new definitions for indictable offence and summary offence.
