Binns takes over Community Ministry
Derrick Binns, the Department of Works and Engineering?s top civil servant, is to be become the Permanent Secretary for the Community Affairs Ministry, a newly created post, Government announced on Friday.
The latest civil service shuffle will also see Russell Wade resume duties as Permanent Secretary of Works.
A Government press release said the Community Affairs Ministry needed a senior civil servant ?to bring experience and oversight to a Ministry whose diversified portfolio requires high level coordination and support?.
?This will be Dr. Binns? third Ministry assignment as a Permanent Secretary ? he has also served in the Ministry of Health and Family services.
Mr. Wade had been assigned responsibility for special projects in the Works and Engineering Ministry.
?As Permanent Secretary for Works and Engineering and Housing, he will provide engineering support at the top of that Ministry and continue oversight of the Tynes Bay project,? the statement continued.
The changes take place on April 15.
