EVERY summer a dozen breeding pairs of Eastern bluebirds make the gardens at Government House their home. Lady Vereker, wife of Governor Sir John Vereker (pictured), invited the Mid-Ocean News on a walk through the 33-acre property this week to see first hand how her reforestation programme is paying off after more than 900 trees and shrubs were destroyed in Hurricane Fabian in 2003.
