Breaking News: Flights between UK and Bermuda remain grounded
British Airways’ flights between the UK and Bermuda remain grounded today due to the continued presence of ash from the Iceland volcano eruption.
Commercial flights were cancelled for the second day in a row and residents were warned of imminent mail delays — both a consequence of the eruption, the largest disruption to air travel since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The Bermuda Post Office today announced that mail sent from Bermuda destined for Great Britain, Asia or Europe between April 14 and April 16 will be detained in Toronto until further notice.
British Airways customers on cancelled flights can re-book their flight for a later date or claim a full refund, a spokesman for the airlines said.
In order to assist passengers, the British Airways ticket office at L.F. Wade International Airport will remain open until 6 p.m.
