A welcome decrease in the cost of electricity caused Bermuda’s rate of inflation rate to fall to 4.4 percent in February.
Government figures released this afternoon showed that the fuel adjustment rate on Belco bills fell by 20 percent, as consumers enjoy a delayed effect of the lower world oil prices.
Food prices rose 8.3 percent from the same month last year and were the main contributor to the rising cost of living.
February’s inflation rate was down 0.8 percentage points from the 5.2 percent rate seen in January.
