Breaking News: Ombudsman investigates archive complaints

The Ombudsman, Arlene Brock, has launched an investigation into allegations of “arbitrary barriers to access to information’’ held in the Bermuda Archives.

According to a statement issued this morning, there have been five complaints from people in Bermuda and overseas, alleging unreasonable delays and other problems getting access to archival materials.

Ms. Brock said she wanted to emphasize that “she had come to no conclusion whatsoever” and that her focus “is not finding fault, but to make recommendations, if needed, that will assist the Bermuda Archives to fulfill its mission to ensure that citizens’ rights to public information are protected”.
