Broadcaster Mike Sharpe arrested following crash
ZBM sports journalist Mike Sharpe has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following a weekend road traffic accident.
The smash happened on Kindley Field, St. George's, in the early hours of Saturday and resulted in a motorcyclist being taken to hospital.
According to a Police statement, the collision occurred at about 3.25 a.m. after a vehicle being driven by the broadcaster attempted to overtake a motorcycle. The 32-year-old cyclist was injured in the smash and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. Last night he was in a stable condition on a general ward.
Sharpe, 47, whose vehicle was "extensively damaged" in the crash, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of impaired driving. He was taken to St. George's Police Station and later released on bail to appear in court at a later date.
Earlier this year ZBM News director Jim McKey was banned from driving following a three-car crash in December.
The veteran broadcaster, 64, was under the influence behind the wheel of a vehicle which ploughed into two other cars on Middle Road, Smith's.
