Transport Minister Ewart Brown held an informal meeting to speak with his constituents and answer questions about their issues.

Dr. Brown spoke at Warwick Workmen's Club recently for almost two hours, highlighting the achievements the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) and his Ministry had made over the past five years. He pointed out the increase of Bermudians in higher positions and that the PLP had worked hard to put Bermudians first. Through his ministry, Dr. Brown was proud to point out his new army of fast ferries and the increase of new flights to Bermuda. "We're trying to bring in new flights that are going to bring in competitive prices for the Island to ensure that Bermudians get better deals," Dr. Brown said.

Dr. Brown touched on some of the local issues voters in District 26 - where the Minister will be standing - had expressed concern over. They included crime, drugs and violence.

"When it comes to these three issues I think they are all interrelated and have to be looked at in the same box," Dr. Brown said. "It is a failure of all of us in the community if we have to warehouse people who commit crimes."

Although most of the members of the audience were not from District 26 they all raised concerns over affordable housing once Dr. Brown opened the floor for questions. Dr. Brown said: "There isn't a problem with housing, there is an economic problem in Bermuda if people can't afford the housing in Bermuda."

Before the evening ended, Dr. Brown spoke of his commitment to his constituents and said he wanted to have "personal contact" with any individuals who raised concerns.
