A 52-year-old Devonshire man is helping the Bermuda Society for Protection of Animals with their investigation into the death of a bull found tethered and decomposing on Friday.

SPCA inspector Charles Whited said a concerned member of the public heard distressed animal noises and called the authorities.

Mr. Whited and Government vet Dr. Jonathan Nisbett found one emaciated bull still alive while another was dead in trees about 100 yards from Happy Valley Road, Devonshire, in Government woodland.

He said the two-year-old living bull was tightly tethered and unable to move while the other bull, which was about a year old, had been dead for days and had to be buried on the spot.

Mr. Whited said he believed it had been without food and water for a long time. The other bull is expected to make a full recovery within six weeks and will be held for evidence in a possible court case.
